Cult Of Fire: मृत्यु का तापसी अनुध्यान
05/05/14 || sincan
Stories about Czech Cult of Fire’s latest offering has been whispered in the deepest and darkest corner of the underground. I’ve owned this fucker for a while and like aging red wine I’ve been saving this little something for my beloved readers (the latter was a lie).
“मृत्यु का तापसी अनुध्यान” was released on Iron Bonehead Productions, yeah, I know, the same label as über hyped death metal duo Bölzer is working with. Well, I guess the label uses the old tactic of not spreading the word and only distribute to well hidden record shops because not many people seem to have picked up this great album. This whereas Bölzer is riding the wave of fame because of the rumors and gigs at the right places.
Cult of Fire’s music can be described as a (Eastern) European black metal with some Eastern (world) influences which adds tons of interesting spices. The great cover portrays the Hindu goddess Kali, with eight arms, ready to dance the Dance of death on your head. It is hard for me not to think about a band like Mgła when injecting this album, not fully that “coal fired army”-like however and Cult of Fire is not a cheap copy but fully original (well, relatively speaking). खण्ड मण्ड योग is a good reference here, a mid paced track with an epic ending that rocks the clit out of everything.
The music consists for fearsome organized chaos with tremolo riffing of hell and beyond, blast beats and in a whole great drumming performance and harsh cold vocals of no life celebration what so ever. The pace is varied and here and there are Eastern instruments present, for instance in the form of a sitar. Not a single track on this could’ve been left out and the 47 minutes are well spent compared to your other activities of nudity and vacuum cleaning. In a genre where it is hard to come with something new, Cult of Fire is here with a massive amount of death, sodomy and hatred which makes this perfectly fresh.
